Wilderness Cabin by Lake Rovajärvi – Off-Grid, Off the Map

The Wilderness Cottage is located in a protected nature conservation area in Inari, near the scenic Otsamo fell, directly on the shores of Lake Rovajärvi.

This atmospheric wood-heated cabin, originally built in the 1950s, offers approx. 200 m² of space, including a spacious living room, a kitchen with a gas stove and cooking equipment, and a separate living area of approx. 40 m². All rooms are equipped with traditional fireplaces, keeping the cabin warm even in -30°C Arctic conditions.

There is no electricity or running water – and the outdoor toilet is located in a separate building. This is true wilderness living.

Guests can unwind in a generous, wood-heated sauna, enjoy the silence of the forest, or take the rowing boat out on the lake.
The Otsamo hiking trail begins about 1.5 km from the cabin, and the lake’s pure water is safe to drink and use for cooking.

The location is only 18 km from the village of Inari – around 20–25 minutes by car, yet it feels like a world apart.

Please note: during wintertime, the road is not open. Ploughing service costs 300-400 EUR (needs to be ordered in advance). Cottage can be reached also by snowmobile, snowshoes and skiing.

Ideal for:
  • Nature lovers
  • Adventurous souls
  • People seeking true silence, off-grid comfort, and raw beauty
